AUTHORIZATION -- a word of multiple meanings within the computer environment.  

The failure to implement proper authorizations oftentimes result in decreased productivity, as well as the risk of inappropriate activities requiring administrative, civil or criminal ramifications.

 

IMPLIED AUTHORIZATIONS constitutes a suggestion concerning access rights. No matter where the computer is located the issues of expectation of privacy and rights to intellectual property are often misunderstood. 

ESTABLISHED AUTHORIZATIONS often constitute a contract between the manager and user of  the computers.  Established authorizations minimize the risks of misunderstandings and improper expectations of privacy and rights to intellectual property.
